Supplier Capability
The primary focus of the supplier capability focus area is to upgrade supplier competitiveness with the objective of achieving comparable levels of supplier productivity to leading cost countries (measured by MVA per Rand of employee cost). Three activities have been prioritised to achieve these objectives:
Value chain competitiveness upgrading projects
3 value-chain competitiveness upgrading projects, in priority sub-sectors, encompassing WCM, skills development, supplier development, technology alliances.
Tier 2 and 3 competitiveness upgrading
15 WCM interventions at tier 2 and 3 suppliers, with focus on black owned suppliers.
Skills Development
Leverage skills development funding and resources to establish 2 sustainable development programmes that will address priority medium and long term industry skills requirements.
